farms and farm holiday facilities in Puglia
Salamis hams and cheeses, extra virgin olive oil from centuries-old native olive groves, strong flavoursome wines and pasta still made by hand. A food and wine journey into the universe of Puglia is as natural and tasty as you can imagine.
The Itria Valley is a region with a large number of old farms that have been renovated and converted for food and wine tourism. We offer tours to explore enchanting places, with tasty stops in farms and holiday farm facilities to taste local produce. You will find the delicious traditional recipes of the Puglia tradition, dishes like home made orecchiette and the exquisite burrata cheese. The Itria Valley also boasts the finest production of PDO salamis and hams in Puglia.
TASTE AND KNOWLEDGE
The farm tours include a visit to the kitchen garden, the stables and the dairy, with an interactive cheese making lesson. There is then a little buffet to taste some typical products: mozzarella, capocollo, focaccia, and many more excellent products, 100% Pugliese, natural and full of taste. The cost of a guided tour of a farm is about 25 euros per person, but children under 8 years old go free. For a small additional payment of 10 euros, it is also possible to arrange to have lunch at the farm, a really unforgettable experience.
Not to be missed for connoisseurs of oil, or anyone who is curious about it, is the visit to the Museum of Olive Oil in Fasano, about ten minutes by car from Almapetra Trulli Resort . What better way to discover and try unique products still made in the traditional way, than a holiday at Almapetra?
