Stalactites and Stalagmites
A fascinating natural spectacle
Castellana Grotte, a town in the hinterland of the province of Bari, just over 10 kilometres from the trullos of Alberobello and the coast of Polignano a Mare, has a treasure - the most beautiful karst cave in the world.
Castellana Grotte is just 15 minutes by car from Almapetra Trulli Resort, an excellent opportunity to visit this place, which is famous all over the world for its underground caves. The slow and tireless action of nature has generated stalactites and stalagmites.
Ask us anything you like about it, we will be happy to help you organize a cave exploring tour of Castellana. The caves are just a short distance from the town.
The caves in figures
The Caves of Castellana are a complex of underground chambers of karstic origin. They are 3348 metres long and have a maximum depth of 122 metres from the surface. The temperature in the underground passages of the caves is around 16°, and it is estimated that over 15 million people have walked through them.
